Finches are found in the Fringilladae family. They are small to medium sized birds with bills that are short and stout and are made for cracking seeds. They are known to also eat insects and fruit.  They commonly feed at bird feeders.  Some of them are brightly colored in reds and yellows, and others are drab brown.  Most travel in flocks outside of breeding season and are very social.  They have an undulating flight.
