Cranes are some of the tallest birds in the world. They Crane are long legged and long necked birds belonging to the Gruidae family. They are heavier than Herons and have shorter bills. Unlike Herons, feathers drape over their rumps and form a “bustle”. They fly together in a V formation or a straight line formation, flying with their necks outstretched. They use the thermals to circle like raptors do. Most cranes have a bare patch on their heads. Cranes give trumpet-like call and have elaborate courting dances.
