There are 130 species of Bulbuls. They belong to the Pycnonotidae family. This family of birds is found mostly in the tropics and subtropic areas of Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Bulbuls have also been introduced and have colonized in other urban areas of the world. These perching birds have long tails and bills. They are medium sized with short legs and rounded wings. Most are dull dark browns and olives and some have crests on top of their heads. They are loud and bold and sometimes are considered pests because they feed on fruits and other crops.
